Looking over our menu you may have noticed that we don’t offer acrylic nails here at The Vault. Have you ever wondered why? We care about the health of our clients’ nails, and acrylic is one of the most damaging nail treatments.

Shellac is a blend of gel and nail polish, that is cured with a UV or LED lamp. It cannot be used to extend the length of your nails, however unlike regular nail polish it does give your nail added thickness, strength, and can help promote growth over time, when done properly. It can also last up to fourteen days without chipping, which is nearly impossible with regular nail polish!

When removed properly, shellac leaves your natural nail in nearly the same condition as before. The nail is wrapped in foil and a cotton ball soaked in appropriate, nourishing remover, in order to break down the shellac polish. The polish gently disintegrates and is then very carefully lifted off – preserving your nails underneath. Unlike this gentle process, acrylic removal often requires the use of drills and harsh agents.

Acrylic nails are known to cause damage to the nail bed, making it harder to grow out your nails over time. Also, damaged nail beds are a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria.

At The Vault we never want to compromise the integrity of your nails – or anything else for that matter! We want our clients to have all the facts so that they can make an informed decision regarding which services would be best for them. Some may prefer regular polish, but for those seeking longer wear, high-gloss finish, and added thickness and strength, Shellac manicures trump all!
